Celery Juice: What’s the Hype All About?!

So many people are wondering, what really is the hype with celery juice these days? Everybody is drinking it, promoting it, and hyping it up. I had seen a few influencers and celebrities talk about the amazing results they saw from drinking celery juice, but that wasn’t really convincing enough for me to try it. Mostly because I really don’t LOVE celery. However, over the last eight months I’ve struggled with cystic/hormonal acne, and upon doing my (constant) research about it, celery juice came up. I started digging deeper and finding people who had amazing results with their cystic acne just through drinking celery juice. And throughout my skin journey, it’s been really important that I clear my skin NATURALLY. So I thought, you know what? Let me give this celery juice thing a go!

My Celery Juice Routine
So for the entire month of March, I decided to commit to drinking celery juice every single morning. Which was definitely a discipline, mostly because that means I would have to take the time to prepare my juice every night. And, on top of that, I don’t own a juicer. So I had to improvise with what I had handy. So every night I would use my 24 oz Nutribullet cup, add about 4-6 stalks of celery, ¼-½ cup water, blend it up, and then strain it with a cheesecloth, which would produce about 16 oz of celery juice.

Upon doing my research about celery juice, I learned that in order to receive the full benefits of celery juice you must follow a few rules:

  • It must be consumed alone (no adding lemon, ginger, or anything else) JUST CELERY
  • Drink FIRST thing in the morning (that’s why I always made it the night before)
  • Must be consumed on an empty stomach
  • Recommended to wait about 15-30 minutes before consuming anything else

Okay, So What’s the Hype All About?: Health Benefits
Despite all the hype, Celery Juice truly does have REALLY amazing health benefits. It can balance hormones, reduce inflammation, support the nervous system, and aid digestion. Celery Juice is also full of vitamins (A, C, K)  and minerals (calcium, potassium). Celery juice has also been found to help cure chronic diseases and infections. Who knew that watery plant had so many health benefits!?

I’ll be honest, drinking celery juice did NOT completely heal my skin. Which is okay, I recognize that everybody is different, what works for you may not work for me. BUT, I will say that drinking celery juice gave me way more energy throughout the day. I also saw great results with my digestion, bloating, and bowel movements. And OVERALL, it made me feel really great every morning. I was surprised by how much I started to LOVE the refreshing taste, despite the fact that I’ve always been a celery hater. So I’d definitely say that if you’re looking to incorporate something new and healthy into your morning routine, celery juice is definitely a good one to try! It may seem like it’s just a trend, but unlike many other fad diets and quick fixes, celery juice is proven to be beneficial to our health with zero negative side effects. Who’s ever felt more unhealthy drinking a pure green juice? NOBODY.

  1. I’ve been wondering about this trend! Working at Whole Foods, we get requests for fresh pressed celery juice all the time and our fresh celery has been flying off the shelf! It’s good to know of all of its health benefits — not sure if I’ll give it a try until I get a juicer though; I don’t have your discipline! xx
